Just before doing the final work of this semester, our class looked at modern trends in art, inclucing abstraction, expressionism, and more painterly techniques. I kind of liked what I saw, and decided to do something like that for my next and final image. I decided that I wanted a very loose, intuitive, painterly image, and so I did this work in the space of several hours. I found it much easier to create an image that makes good use of the elements and principals of design while putting paint down spontaneously and without much thought. I really liked how it turned out, too; I've always liked value and colour contrast, and simplified shapes. In case you're wondering about the title, it's the name of the frog I based it on... you can check out the image here.
